Ta Prohm Trees

Ta Prohm was built by Jayavarman VII (1181-1220), the most prolific temple builder amongst the Angkor kings. It was consecrated in 1186 with the original name Rajavihar meaning Royal Monastery. It was built in memory of Jayavarman VII mother, Jayadevi. Unlike other Angkor temples, Ta Prohm has undergone very little restoration, remaining mostly in the natural state that is was discovered in during the 19th century. It's one of the most popular locations for tourists to Angkor and more recently featured in the movie "Tomb Raider" starring Angelina Jolie.
