Kincheng Alleys
Kinmen (Jinmen) formely known as Quemoy. The island lies less than 2km off the coast of China, and in 1949 was turned into a front-line of defense for Taiwan by Chiang Kai-shek and the Chinese nationalist Kuomintang (KMT) in the ongoing war with the communist PRC. The island existed under martial law until 1993. Today, Kinmen is a popular tourist destination and home to a lot of traditional Fujian-style architecture. Shown here is one of the narrow back alleys.
